Life Safe offers a range of private First Aid and CPR courses designed to equip you with essential life-saving skills. These courses include:

  1. Standard First Aid: This comprehensive course includes all material from Emergency First Aid and CPR-C. It covers medical emergencies, spinal injuries, bone, muscle, and joint injuries, heat and cold emergencies, and poisoning. It also meets workplace safety and insurance board WSIB requirements.
  2. Emergency First Aid: In addition to all material from CPR-C, this course includes basic first aid, wound care, cardiac arrest management, and aid for respiratory distress. It meets workplace safety and insurance board WSIB requirements.
  3. Basic Life Support (BLS): This course is ideal for healthcare professionals and others who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings. You’ll learn high-quality CPR, how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), how to use a Bag-Valve-Mask, and the importance of high chest compression fraction and early defibrillation.
  4. CPR-C: This course is designed to train individuals on how to perform CPR on adults, children, and infants. Participants will learn how to give rescue breaths, use an AED, handle choking situations, perform hands-only CPR, and respond to heart attacks, strokes, asthma, and anaphylaxis. CPR-C by itself DOES NOT MEET WSIB REQUIREMENTS, it must be combined with a First Aid course to meet WSIB requirements.

Course Details

1. Basic Life Support (BLS): This course lasts for approximately 3-4 hours and is completed in a single day. The in-person component includes hands-on practice with CPR and AEDs and other important skills like using a Bag-Valve-Mask. BLS certification is valid for 1 year.

2. CPR-C: The CPR-C course can be completed in 4 hours and includes a detailed hands-on practice of adult, child, and infant CPR, as well as management of choking, stroke, and other emergencies. Certification for CPR-C lasts for 3 years.

3. Emergency First Aid: This course typically takes approximately 8 hours to complete. It includes hands-on practice, as well as theoretical instruction on basic first aid procedures and emergency response. The Emergency First Aid certification lasts for 3 years.

4. Standard First Aid: This comprehensive course is typically spread over two full days, approximately 16 hours in total. It includes an in-depth exploration of first aid procedures and emergency response for a variety of scenarios, including medical emergencies, injuries, and environmental emergencies. The Standard First Aid certification lasts for 3 years.

5. Standard First Aid Recertification: This comprehensive course is approximately 8 hours in total. It requires all students to hold a current (not expired) Standard First Aid certificate. The Standard First Aid Recertification certification also lasts for 3 years.

6. Standard First Aid-BLS: This comprehensive course is typically spread over two full days, approximately 18 hours in total. It includes topics of Standard First Aid and BLS. The Standard First Aid certification lasts for three years. The BLS certification lasts for 1 year.
